As theold saying goes,“prospects are expected to be more, while words are expected to beless”. This is talk about the white space of traditional Chinese calligraphy andpaintings, which serve to leave more space for the imagination of appreciators. Theprospect is used to shape a distinctive image but still with the space of imagination.As Meng Shengyu said:“the complicated views shall be described as it is withinyour sight, while the endless prospect shall be present beyond the words”. One of themost important principles of room design is avoiding to place too much things. Thekey of prospect shaping is that “silence is better than voice”. Silence not means noshaping, but means that shaping must tightly incorporate and merge with the innerspace. The starting point of shaping focuses on the space, which makes people feelabout the implication and culture of the design. Over-shaping can only beunnecessary additions. Shaping not only includes plus, but also subtraction,especially in the popular field of den design. Creating certain emotional effects inlimited space, warmhearted or romantic, usually imposes more challenges to thedesigner`s techniques of shaping. In sum, multiple materials application representthe techniques of designers, while prospects are the result of designers`exercises incomprehensive abilities and the inspiration of room design. This paper will starts inthe notion of prospect and the classification of furnishings interior, and the maincontent will focus on the origin and affecting factors of the prospect of furnishing artas well as the formal beauty. The emphasis of this paper will concentrate on themeasures of using furnishing art to improve the interior space prospect. Finally, thispaper will analyze the prospect creation in different functional space by applyingspecific examples, and hopes to provide some useful advises to the development ofChinese interior design doctrines and practices.
