Applicability Research Of Furnishings Design Decoration Art Research Based On The Objects In Residential Dwellings

furnishing plays important part in daily life. As a newly-emergedcurriculum, furnishing design has arose the continual focus and attention of scholarsand designers. In the thesis a systematic and complete generation and summarizationof furnishings design and its applicability has been made, which is presented in threeperspective: archive recognition, fieldwork and applicability research of ancientfurnishings.Regarding archive recognition, archaeological and documental records have beencollected in order to create a table which systematically lists furnishing art in bothChina and foreign countries from ancient time till nowadays including their ages andstyles, as the necessary preparation of later applicability research..Regarding fieldwork, three typical folk residential buildings, Qiao’s Compound,Wang’s Compound and Former Residence of Chenshou, are recorded and appreciated.Besides, some internship concerning furnishings design is undoubtedly helpful notonly in gaining working experience but also in collecting data for applicabilityresearch.Regarding applicability research: firstly, the taxonomy of furnishing art is applied.Each indoor object is analyzed concerning its position in the room with the aim offinding its design method and rules. Secondly, the connection of furnishings, includingthat of room and indoor objects, objects and objects, human and objects, is discussed.Thirdly, the design ideas of furnishings in the functional zone like dining room, livingroom, bedroom, kitchen, washing room and store-room, are discussed. Finally, theconsideration of furnishings’ size in design process, which is mainly based uponhuman body’s size, is discussed in order to understanding the connection among room, furnishings and human bodies.Based upon the research mentioned above, it can be said that furnishing art hassuffer continual progress with the interaction of interior space of residential buildings.Many elements are considered in furnishing design process, which improves furnishingart. On the other hand, in current furnishing design practice, experience and aestheticcustom combined are needed to seek designing language and related elements,ensuring the birth of furnishings that are delicately created through learning of humancivilization.The difference between furnishing design and building design, or interiordecoration design is that it owns strong personality and subjectivity. It is the soul ofinterior decoration, and it reflects the personality and characteristic of house lord.Therefore, furnishing design is hard and complicate. It can be concluded that theresearch of furnishing design inside of residential buildings is helpful in improvingcurrent furnishing design taste and emerging cultural meanings into furnishing art, andfurther improving living conditions. I hope this research could set up a bridge upon thegap between art theory and current design practice.
