Due to the old people’s physical and mental have their own uniqueness, so in the design of the old buildings need from the old people’s physical and psychological needs, create endowment environment appropriate to their physical and mental health. But at this stage of the old buildings from both theoretical research and professional talent training to various aspects such as design practice, basically is still in its beginning and exploring stage, and no more in-depth and meticulous research, such as the study of the natural environment of the building for the elderly. For the elderly, natural light is the elderly physiological and psychological essential requirements, the elderly demand for natural light environment has its own characteristics, in the old building design, we need to consider not only directly affect the natural light for the elderly, also want to consider natural light through the surrounding environment on the indirect effects of the old.In this paper, on the premise of "people-oriented", from the perspective of the social survey questionnaire, by using the basic principle of architecture and gerontology and related theories, sums up the principle of natural light environment suitable for the old people’s buildings. According to the principle of proposed set the elderly physiological and psychological and behavioral needs, from the indoor and outdoor natural light environment for the aged, systematic analysis and research, interior living space for the aged, space atmosphere shape and the elderly outdoor natural light environment under the influence of architecture design and landscape, outdoor space design and other aspects in detail and analysis, through lighting software carries on the quantitative analysis of indoor and outdoor natural light environment, and combined with the methods of qualitative analysis, summed up the natural light is suitable for the living environment, designed the building for the aged is booming provides a good reference material, create better pension for the elderly.
