A variety of new methods and technologies have been applied to the remote meter reading with the booming development of the internet of things. For the power system, the basic data such as all kinds of electric energy, power quality is the basis of decision made by management department. In order to guarantee the operation of the power system, the real-time data of key equipment in power system should be effectively collected by studying the remote meter reading system and the internet of things.In this paper, based on the internet of things, the combination of the internet of things and the remote meter reading system had real-time monitoring, perceiving and collecting electricity and the information of key equipment with sensor, embedded system, modern communication network (including wireless ad-hoc network/carrier ad-hoc network). On the other hand, Monitoring data and Distributed photovoltaic power measurement collected the perceived information was deal with the embedded system to the data processing center by processing the information, and utilizing the random self-organizing wireless network with multiple hops relaying mode.In this paper, the remote meter reading platform containing the distributed photovoltaic power was designed and realized with a Wince embedded operating system platform according to the market requirements and the technical specification of SGCC’s remote meter reading. With the technology of the internet of things and considering the intelligent watt-hour meter as the sensor, the platform was mainly designed for collecting the operation data with the power ministry of DL/T645-1997 specifications and DL/T645-2007 specifications. The data transmission channel including the carrier, micro-power wireless AD hoc network is used to transfer all kinds of electrical energy, power quality and related electric power data with SGCC Q/GDW376.2 specifications. Then the information was transmitted to the host through the TCP/IP network.Finally, the power consumption collected by the remote meter reading system is forecasted and verified, based on the Markov corrected load forecasting model. Additionally, the combination of Internet of things and remote meter reading system for the electric equipments in the industry such as industrial enterprise power supply system, PV function measurement, power substation, large buildings, urban public utilities realized highly intelligent centralized management so as to satisfy the high efficiency, energy saving, safe and practical requirements.
