Currently, most of China’s urban households water meter, ammeter and gas meters are made artificially unified login information, this is not only inefficient, and there will be for meter reading meter reading when error, and meter household difficulties, meter-long cycle, these are obvious problems.Automatic meter reading technology(Automatic Meter Reading-AMR) is to solve a series of disadvantages arising from all the gas meter, it is the use of modern computer technology, digital communication technology and the perfect combination of gas measurement technology, set the metering, data collection, transmission, treatment in one, integrated information processing systems for the urban and rural residents. Accurate and convenient of automatic meter reading technology, not only can improve the efficiency of management, but also meet the needs of modern users to with a new gas payment.This article aims to study design is based on ST’s ARM microprocessor cortex-M3 STM32L152 new automatic meter reading system and GPRS technology, this paper describes the microcontroller modules, RF modules, the RTC module selection, GPRS modules, memory modules, GPRS Internet connection, hardware and software design. The system can record the user using gas, gas-collecting user table data, communicating with the server, data transmission, and general user’s information, real-time monitoring, automatic calculation of fee for users with gas, to pay for it.The system is made up of gas meters, collector, collector and Management Center, and via bus communication between collectors and concentrators. GPRS technology(General Packet Radio Service) is short for general packet radio service technology, emerged from the current GSM system is a new hosting service, able to provide end-to-end, wide-area wireless IP connection. The systems can greatly reduce the involvement of human factors can reduce redundancies, streamlined Department to bring good solutions to problems.
