Dumper is the mechanization and automation equipment for large wagons to unloading operations. Granular materials can be unloaded over the railway truck with it. It’s widely used in coal power plants, ports and other large modern enterprises. It is extremely important production equipment of thermal power plants. Now the railway transforms itself from a government office to a company in the market economy. The relationship between power companies and Railway Company also transform from public to private. The railway demands more and more on the time of dumping. They take more fine if we delay dumping now. So how to dump more efficient with the existing dumper is becoming a question for all the thermal power enterprises.The tradition process of dumping is controlled by manual operation. One cycle contains dozens of operations. The whole process is a hard work with a low fault tolerance. It requires the driver always be concentrate. This paper researched about dumper control system and PLC development at home and abroad. It surveys the technology of optimizing design of large mechanical PLC at home and abroad. By learning of these technologies, we design the control logic of the dumper for our power plant step by step.This paper researches the status of dumper and PLC domestic and abroad. It researches optimization design of PLC for large-scale mechanical domestic and abroad. It designs dumper control logic which meets the requirements of power plants gradually by learning domestic and international advanced technique. This paper puts forward the design scheme according to the system functional requirements and equipment design requirements. ①By studying the principle of structure and operating process of dumper we revise the PLC control logic with RSlogix5000 system. Integration the existing dumper PLC logic with control loop in program. Simplifying the process of dump operation on the promise of every equipment in normal operation. Achieve semi-automatic and automatic dump operation. Complete the dumping job safety and efficient. ②By measuring shapes of train box cars, add a button with i Fix program and PLC logic to adapt the shape we dump. When the size of a car is over the design value, the dumper driver can use his observation and judgment to force signals with the button. That will make the dumping process smooth and ensure the production efficiency.
