Green space can improve the city environment and the city style, is an important part of the city. At present,with the acceleration of industrialization, city dwellers are beginning to realize the importance of the city green space construction. However, due to the urban planning mistakes and from the political, economic, and so on various aspects of social factors, the green space construction in old urban areanot only to raise the standard of living of the residents, more caused the destruction of urban ecological function, as well as the huge waste of resources.The old urban areaas the development of the urbanlifeline and power source, the green space system planning and design is related to the development of the wholeurban. In view of the shantytowns density, population is concentrated, the present situation of the ecological damage caused by a shortage of land resources in the old urban area combined with the local culture, to reconstruct green landscape, it is the focus of this paper wants to discuss.To investigated the status of green space construction in the old urban areawhatis the problem, and combining domestic and foreign situation of green space of the design in the old urban area, to provide the successful experience for the article research; Secondly, by analyzing the reasons to green space problem, and expounds the importance of ecological and cultural promotion in green space construction, puts forward the way of the design strategy about the green space in the old urban area,to provide the basis for the sustainable development of human beings.Finally, through the design example, combining withcurrent situation,historical style and city features in Jiujiang city Jiangxi province to designthe green space in the old urban area, for improve the quality of life of urban residents, promote the harmonious development of man and nature to provide the reference.
