Railway as a resource-saving and environment-friendly transportion modes is considered be a dominant position in national economic development.With the railway freightage demand continues to grow rapidly, the contradiction between railway capacity and transport demand havebecome increasingly prominent.The experience of the countries in the development ofheavy haul shows that improving truck axle load is an effective way to increase thetransport capacity. Most of existing linesfreight train axle load in our country is 23 t, so development of 27 t axle load of freight train is not only beneficial to improve the ability of railway transport, and is conducive to the further development of freightage technology in China.This paper expound the development and the present situation of domestic and international cargo transport, points out the necessity of 27 t axle load freight train development in China, and analyses the problems possible exist in normal lines, points out some key problems such as the small span bridge and speed control of the Ⅲ part of hump.Analyzing different axle loads of freight train’s traction and brake performance, we researched on the matching relationship between 27 t axle loads of freight train and existing locomotives.For existing railway lines, we made a comparison on the influences of axle loads of 27 t and 23 t. Considering such influencing factors as emergency and service braking distance and additional time for stopping and accelerating trains, we calculated and checked the above-mentioned influencing factors and explored how the freight train with 27 t axle load influenced the train headways at the maximum speeds of 80, 90 and 100 km/h respectively. The results show that the carrying capacity of conventional lines will not be influenced by the freight train with 27 t axle load.Finally,this paper introduce the goods transport organization mode in our country, and analyzes the 27 t axle load of freight train using the scheme, points out that the ultimate goal is 27 t axle load truck mixed with both freight marshalling. And analyses the effect of axle load capacity of 27 t briefly, the results shows that 27 t train axle load goods into application can improve the goods transport capacity obviously.
