| With the implementation of the strategy of revitalizing the nation through science and education, the university’s buildings have sprung up as well as the rapid development of higher education in China. Thus, the landscape of the newly-built campus is facing many problems. The domestic universities employed the design of western style which makes the landscape of domestic universities are in the same form and lack of peculiarity, teachers and students lack of a sense of belonging. Therefore, all of these influence the development of the campus. In order to meet the psychological needs of teachers and students by university campus landscape design, this paper takes the example of Kevin Lynch’s research methods and conclusions of the city image theory to explore the methods of university campus landscape design.The article mainly adopted literature research, field visits, case study and other methods of research:1. To get the campus landscape features, functions, current state of the landscape features by study the different regions’university campus in different periods;2. To summarizes some of the campus landscape design principles generally applicable from the perspective of Landscape Architecture, Environmental Psychology, Communication and Space theory, Places trait theory, External space design theory and other related disciplines,;3. Sum up the characteristics of the five elements of the city image and its impact on city image formation according to the city image theory by Kevin Lynch;4. Analysis of city image of five elements embodied in the university campus landscape design and summarize the method to create campus landscape of Five Elements by doing research in two university;5. According the case of Hanpu Campus of Hunan University of Chinese Medicine, this paper verifies the city image theory from the aspects of road planning, boundary treatment, regional construction, arrangement of the nodes, landmark. In order to provide reference for future campus landscape design. |
