The number of both military and civil helicopters got a sharp increase due to thehelicopter technique developed by leaps and bounds in China in the past few years. Toseek for a cost-efficient and secure pilots training approach has became an urgentpoint. There are two common training ways in the world nowadays, one calledtraditional real flight training and another is to build a flight simulator platform basedon virtual reality technology. Obviously, the second way is more cost-efficient andsecure than the traditional approach, but many problems about domestic helicoptersimulators need to conquer. For instance, the monopoly of key techniques andcomponents of simulators by developed countries caused a high cost, so it hard towide spread in China; the details of macro-relief can’t render well; the virtual imagescan’t match with the real cockpit windows; multichannel render out of synchrony,screen splicing inaccuracy. Thus, the work of developing a kind of high fidelityhelicopter flight simulators under a low cost to solve these problems is of greatpractical significance.This article uses an electric servo6-DOF motion platform and flight cockpitsimulators designed by completely autonomous, all of that can lower the cost largelywithout sacrificing optical effects and feel effects. Copy the cockpit of a certain attackhelicopter and build a simulator at the scale of1:1. The accurate of close rangesimulation caused by the difference between computer virtual imaging and realphysical system’s observation exist, to conquer that, a high resolution LCD should beplaced at the window of simulator.A helicopter flight vision simulated system was established by software.According to the self-similarity theory, built the mega-relief virtual scene objects byusing midpoint displacement method and multiplex controllable fractal algorithm. Allthat measures could get a better detail accuracy than the simple texture mapping. Tomeet the challenge of coordinating the instantaneity and realistic render, the dynamicloading mode of database and the LOD and texture mapping technique should be used. Under the CIGI network criterion, the goals of multichannel scene synchronousupdating can be achieved by adopting distributed simulation. Utilizing algebra as thefundament theory to complete the derivation of the perspective projection matrixunder the CVV and realize a precise splicing of multi-screen ultimately.Finally, all the works be tested on the simulators platform system and simulatethe take off、pitch、roll、hover、land、crash and many other actions of helicopter inthe virtual scene.Replace real flight training by flight motion simulator could deliver a bettervision、force sense、sensory real time feeling to the helicopter pilots. This systemfeatures with higher fidelity, better instantaneity and deeper immersion, all of theadvantages make it widely used in the domain of helicopter pilots training.
