In the field of bulk material handling machinery, the development of productsare generally referring to the foreign existing product data, using empirical formulasand inference methods. Nowadays, with many modern design methods are widelyused, including finite element analysis, optimization method, reliability design and soon, the structural optimization and lightweight design of bulk material handlingmachinery are playing a more critical role. Based on this, this paper make the bucketwheel stacker reclaimer of bulk material handling machinery as an example to carryout research on its key technologies of gantry structure design.The innovation and research work mainly in the following:1. Three-dimensional parameter optimization of gantry. For bulk material handlingmachinery with the great number of the parts and requirements of productserialization design, we proposed a design concept which is suitable for parametersdesign of the mining machinery and achieved by the INVENTOR. Firstly, the originaldesign parameters are built in EXCEL and the frame model are built in INVENTOR atthe same time. And the seamless link and data communication are realized betweenthe original design parameters and the design parameters of frame model. Then, onthe basis of the framework we build three-dimensional digital model andtwo-dimensional engineering drawing, which can be directly driven by changingdesign parameters in EXCEL.2. Finite element analysis of three-dimensional parameter optimization ongantry.The force boundary conditions and material parameters are preprocessedthrough the ANSYS APDL parametric programming language. Therefore, we candirectly get distribution diagrams of the changes of t he stress and strain by changingdesign parameters in the EXCLE. Then, the original design parameters can bemodified by designers timely and facility.3. Fatigue life calculation and simulation analysis of gantry. The reasonable gantryproduct original design parameters can be obtained through the parametric CAD/CAE research. Then we had the calculation simulation analysis of fatigue life basedon the finite element analysis results, and the analysis results have shown thefeasibility of the prophase research work.4. Software platform integrated encapsulation. Considering the serializationdemands of bulk material conveying machinery product, using VB software platform directly to obtain the original design parameters from EXCEL to realize effectivecommunication between VB and INVENTOR of data. To get a three dimensionalmathematical model series products and two-dimensional engineering graphics, usersonly have to do is to select (input) suitable parameters in VB interface. This can bedirectly used in practical production.The results of this topic research can be well applied to the design field of bulkmaterial conveying machinery, which can greatly reduce the cost of series productdesign and development. So it will have a widespread engineering app licationprospects.
