Electronic automobile instrument is a type of combination instrument panel whichemploys stepping motor and LCD to indicate velocity, engine speed, tank level, watertemperature, mileage and other related information in the driving process of anautomobile. It uses LED to achieve functions of instrument backlight and warningindications.While the automobile has a history of more than100years, the instrument panelhas been developing from first-generation’s mechanical instrument to head-up displayinstrument, and currently the stepping motor and TFT color screen combinedinstrument is widely adopted.The reason of these problems, ultimately, is the lack of design key points, strategydesign and test methods. The problems we confront are no longer those problems oflacking development process,juncture output and juncture requirements in the wholeproject development.After several years independent research and development, thedevelopment process has been set up. Now the problems we have to face are the lackof design requirements, design strategy and proof schemes for the design.So in view of the problems and reasons mentioned above, the purpose of thispaper is to complete the building of the automobile instrument platform, the interfacedesign, control strategy, design principle and test specification study, form theconclusion. To whoever design and development engineer of automotive instrumentread this paper to know what contents does the paper cover, how to make strategiesand reduce mistakes. We can eventually design the simple operation by reading thispaper, even can create the instrument gene, a general form of the instrument,genealogy.On the basis of building the instrument platform, this thesis completed theinterface design, external assembly and connector selection, key features such as thespeedometer, tachometer, fuel gauge design, verification and development, includingthe man-machine engineering, EMC and performance tests.
