The safe, stable and reliable operation of turbo-generator set, which is the core equipment in power plant, not only involves the operating life of its own, maintenance cost and economic indicators, but also involves the power customers’ power quality and security. Due to various reasons, such as design, manufacture and operation, the vibration of the shaft is inevitable. Excessive vibration can even cause catastrophic accidents. Vibration is both a blessing and a curse, though adverse to the operation, but there also contains abundant information in vibration signal. Through this information, we can diagnose the causes of vibration fault before it falls down. This Paper proposes a system which is used to monitor generator set vibration. Hardware platform utilizes FPGA as control core, receives the electrical signal converted by the sensor, conducts A/D converting, proceeds FIR filtering. Hardware platform provides two kinds of interface, including USB2.0and RS232to transfer data to upper computer. Upper computer utilizes Lab VIEW platform. Lab VIEW can use VISA module to connect to the USB2.0and RS232interface. LabVIEW acquires data and controls the hardware platform, realizes real-time waveform analysis, frequency domain analysis and shaft orbits analysis. The system can realize remote control and data storage both with SD card and local database. Test the system in laboratory conditions with vibration sigal, the whole system runs well and stably. Finally, the paper introduces the theory of wavelet transform in generator rotor vibration signal monitoring, realizes the wavelet de-noising and wavelet spectral analysis in LabVIEW platform, which worked better than traditional methods.
