In the modern ship building industry, ship vibration measuring and related signal processing is one of the most important sections in the operation of ship's voyage. With the development of micro-computer and software technology, virtual instrument technique has been a development direction in measurement field. By comparation of the traditional measurement instrument, it is shown that virtual instrument has many advantages. Such as the cycle of measurement system developing is shorter, the function of measurement is more powerful, the devices' carriage and installation are more convenient, the cost of devices is much lower and etc. It will be a trend to use virtual instrument in the field of vibration measurement field.Based on this idea and through the theory analysis of ship deck structural vibration, this paper mainly introduces a software development process of virtual instrument measurement system, which is developed by National Instrument Company's production LabVIEW. With the sensors, signal conditioners and data acquisition card's combination and collocation, the hardware is composited. Considering the ship deck structural vibration characteristics and referring the ship vibration related ISO files, such as ISO 6954(2000), this system is designed. By data acquisition through A/D card, signal processing and analysis on software modules, results displaying on PC, a lot of functions of vibration measurement instrument has been realized.Through the deck vibration test on-board, the results are contrasted and analyzed between this system and traditional common vibration measurement and analysis instrument VA-10. The results show that this system is available and has a high enough precision. Based on this system, ship structural operation modal analysis module can be also developed.
