Network camera has benn used generally at present, but due to the constraints of data transmission capacity, it is difficult to achieve high-resolution images.Therefore, the demand of image compression is more and more essential, according to the requirements of the project,this paper provides the scheme of design and implementation of digital image compression network camera.The program uses the JPEG standard and the UDP communication protocol, the main hardware module consists of a front-end image acquisition module, image conversion module, image compression module, image network transmission module and image receiving and display module. The main controller uses the chip XC3S50AN which is a kind of FPGA having the flexible interface, saving the development cost, image acquisition module uses the CCD camera, the original image is transmitted to a SAA7111chip, which can convers anolog signal to digital image signal, ZR36060completes JPEG compression and the transmission of image using the W5300, the PC is used to decode the data, display and storage.The software of the system consist of each module driven design, read/write control and the PC display interface. The driven design of each module use the Verilog HDL language, are configured by FPGA according to timing diagram,to make sure the module can work normally.The SAA7111register is configured by FPGA through the IIC BUS;ZR36060memory is configured by the IP Core;The module of W5300onlt need to configure its interface and network parameters.The PC display interface is used the MFC,realize the image decoding,display and save functions through C++programming.Experimental results show that, the system can complete the image acquisition, digitization, compression and network transmission, the PC can display a clear image. The sensor specifications is500*582pixel, single frame image data is582Kbyte, image size after ZR36060compressed is29Kbyte, the compression ratio is20:1.
