FSAE, Abbreviation of Formula Society of Automotive Engineers, is a car raceorganized by SAE of countries for college students. The students of participatinginstitutions need to create a perfect car in almost one year, which has a prominent andstable performance in acceleration, braking, handing stability and security. All thedesign, manufacture and test must be completed by students independently.As the influence of the college student formula car competition is getting graduallyexpanded, Chinese colleges and universities are beginning to follow and participate inthis competition. In October2010, the first Chinese college student formula carcompetition (FSC) was held in Shanghai,20domestic university teams were attracted toparticipate in this competition, and lastly it proved to be a complete success. In the nextfew years, the competition was getting more scale-expanded and influence-deepened. Inrecent years, China has paid a lot in electric vehicle industry, in order to trainprofessionals of electric vehicle; the Fourth Chinese formula SAE firstly introduced theelectric car group in2013. The Cloud electric team in hefei university of technology isone of the ten teams, which firstly participate in the electric car racing. This thesiscontains how to make the electric car work from two parts, the power system andelectrical system, and the final results of the competition prove that all the design arereasonable.Firstly, based on the analysis of working condition of race car, we put forward areasonable overall target and specific power system performance goals combined withthe previous team data. On this basis, by using some related theory knowledge, we getthe parameters of motor, battery and drive train through theoretical calculation, andselect the power component type. To check whether the selection is reasonable or not,we establish the vehicle model in CRUISE software. According to the real-time data ofthe race car, we create a race car working condition to verify the economic performance;the simulation results show that the selection of power system is reasonable. In order tomeet the requirements of the rules of the competition and achieve optimal dynamicperformance of the car, we modify and redesign the existing power system products;finally the car test results show that the design meets the rules perfectly.
