As a racing car mounting substrate, the racing car frame supports all car parts andassembly and bears the force from the ground. The quality of the frame structure for theprotection of the vehicle and the safety of the driver, and for racing steering stability and fueleconomy has great significance.In this paper, aiming at Liaoning University in2014FSC racing chassis development,author did finite element analysis and optimization of the frame. Main work of the thesis:First, according to the contest rules and ergonomic to design of the frame, and using theCATIA software to build the model. Secondly, established the frame finite element model bythe workbench software and did the static and dynamic finite element analysis. For the staticanalysis, author did the simulation with five kinds of conditions when the car driving, checkedthe strength of each condition, and calculated the stiffness of the frame. For the dynamicanalysis, author studied the vibration characteristics of the frame, and understood the naturalfrequencies of the frame and the corresponding vibration mode. This paper also carried theframe rollover crash finite element analysis. The results show that the design of the framemeets the requirements. Finally, optimized the frame structure design and found the improvedframe reduced2.62kg comparing with the2014competition frame; The rate of weight losswas7.8%.So, the ergonomically design of the FSC racing frame and optimal design in thispaper has practical significance.
