Excavator is one of the most important construction engineering machinery, with many years of development, construction machinery market has been a period of rapid growth, now it faces the problem of high market holdings and intense brand competition, excavator manufacturers are in an Ebb Tide, at present, how to control costs and improve margins is particularly important.So how to improve efficiency and reduce costs through the use of new technologies and new processes is a long-term research in the future.Based on the analysis of the critical force components of the boom’s welded structures of20tons hydraulic excavator, which is with high production and most representatives, this paper presents using the latest high-current welding technology of Komatsu to obtain a large depth of penetration and high efficiency welding, the result is it achieved to non-groove welding, canceled the original beveling process, reduced material processing fees, and improved the welding efficiency in the same time.After success of sample welding test, we select the optimum welding conditions to weld the boom under the premise of ensuring the welding quality. Based on the actual production, further validation of the selected welding conditions can improve the production efficiency and meet the performance of the final product under the premise of ensuring quality.The actual production stage fully validated the enforceability of the optimized welding conditions, and resolved some small problems occured during the actual production. Finally, without increasing welding equipment and welding area, the production efficiency is improved and the targets are achieved.
