Hood latch system is an important component in vehical,it affect the drivingsafety and vehicle anti-theft. The development of system involve part supplier,design department,component testing institutions and vehical test department,Thereare less articles about the system. Research of hood latch system is done,it includingstructure design,human engineering,mechanical engineering analysis and movementsimulation.After some of the test are carried out,the engineering feasibility of theproduct development was verified.The region of install position for hood latch is confirmed by CATIA humanengineering module.The range of structure size in part is confirmed by measurementof finger’s joints of human.There are much researchs have been done about humanengineering and scheme of design is proposed simultaneously.Parameterized design is studied on latch striker by using CATIA. A kind of newhood latch striker which is connected to engine hood by nut is developed becausethere are much cost when welding striker is damaged. The range of spring force iscalculated and analyzed during design. Engine hood latch is illegal to open that allfactor is thinked about in detail,the design that in order to prevent the hood to beopened by illegal way has been illustrated.It has been applied in some models.In order to ensure parts not to interference or clearance between parts is lessthan design value during movement,movement simulation about latch and unlockmechanism have been made. Movement is simulated by setting the distance sensor inCATIA to Unlock button of hood, the diagram between movement Angle and theminimum clearance is gained.The mechanical simulation of latch and striker by using ANSYS Workbench aredone.In the process of analysis,the skills of grid handling, parts constraint and loadare summarized and illustrated by instance. CAE analysis is carried out on threekinds of striker, through comparison and analysis of result, which can providereference to design, at the same time we also confirm the new striker Engineeringfeasibility.The banned substances isn’t detected in hood latch system. Some of the test iscarried out which include function test,environmental adaptability test,durability testetc.The result of test can meet the requirement of standard. Research on design and test of hood latch has been done scientificly,it providesome guaidance for engineering development of the part.
