| Chinese architecture, which is always well known as a kind of human-oriented architecture,and also an important supporter of China traditional culture,it is closely linked with people’s life.The pure theoretical property is weakened in modern public space design gradually,and is replaced by traditional culture spirit.Window,as Chinese traditional architecture’s important constituent part, its particularity, universality and deep-seated culture connotation, possesses profound and lasting research significance.Windows are known as its distinct character and characteristic in the course of history.The material form,culture characteristic and artistic characteristics are rich and colorful with change of the time. The evolution of Chinese Traditional Window is the epitome of the unique ideas of the life attitude of Chinese native culture. Chinese Traditional Window is an important component of the whole Buildings, its aesthetic value and cultural connotation and development history is a precious historical and cultural heritage.We should absorb the quintessence, and inherit and carry forward the traditional culture with a realistic attitude.As for Traditional Window itself is aboriginal, unique and national,the thesis implies the spirit connotation and aesthetic characteristics by considering Traditional Window, further discussing the expression of Traditional Window in public space design, and searching a new angle point of view to inherit traditional window culture. The form, craft and culture connotation will be expounded by the relationship between windows and different types of space. The most important chapter of the thesis is development history and design expression of Traditional Window in the public space, and analyses the law of development of Traditional Window in public space.
