The fuel tank of the car is an important component to ensure the car’s smooth operationand fuel supplies. Its main function is to storage the fuel. The leak-rate is an importantindex to measure the safety and quality of the fuel tank. The main leaking is come from thebody and the cover edge of curling and forming, so sealing machine which completescurling and forming is key equipment. Recently, most companies in our country adopt themechanic handwork or hydraulic to curling and forming, the qualified rate and productionefficiency is not high and the universal application is poor. So the study and design tosealing machine have a very important significance.Taking automatic sealing machine as research objects, the article analyses its maincomposition and working principle, designs and develops sealing machine which achievesautomatic loading and unloading, curling and forming.With the processing technology and equipment characteristic of sealing machine, theoverall solution of automatic sealing machine is designed which includes the controllingsystem and the mechanics of loading and unloading. With the processing of loading andunloading analyzed in detail, the mechanic’s design of loading and unloading is completedat the same time. And the selection and design of the cylinders and ball screw are alsoaccomplished.Based on the analysis to automatic sealing machine working principle and controlrequirements, the control system is designed which uses a communication method betweena touch-screen and two PLC, and the switching value relationship between two PLC. Andthe hardware structure of control system is designed which includes selection of two PLC,reasonable planning of PLC input and output point, AC servo system and the selection ofothers electrical elements. In addition, an electric system of automatic sealing machine isdesigned which includes the main circuit, the circuit of AC servo, hydraulic and electricsystem and safety device.With the control requirement of sealing machine, the design of controlling system’ssoftware has been completed which adopts different communication methods to exchangethe data between PLC and touch screen. At the same time, the design and development ofmanagement and administration interfaces have been accomplished, achieving storage,selection and invocation of production data. Finally, the design of PLC’s and touch screen’sprogram have been fulfilled which are based on the modularize design principle.With the design and study to sealing machine, automatic loading and unloading, curling and forming at a constant linear speed have been achieved. It has improved the degree ofautomation and machining quality greatly. And it has achieved the universality ofequipment and the quality of production. Part of sealing machine which is designed by thisarticle had been debugged and used which is running well and has got a good rewardingfrom the company.
