Boiler, as a kind of special equipments, is the major equipment in our life, referring to safety of life and greater risk. At the same time, there is a wide range of large quantities. At present, there are more than50million boilers in China, so the safe operation of the boiler is a significant impact on society. The accident statistics, in the recent years, show that the rate of boiler accidents becomes higher and higher, especially the accident rate of small and medium boiler. The boiler accidents often cause serious personal injury and economic losses. It is significant important to study the laws of the accident, which is used for reducing boiler accidents and economic losses by taking effective preventive measures. And it is an important task to protect people’s lives and reduce the loss of state property.Many factors may cause the boiler accidents, and the defect inside the boiler pressure components is the key factor. The "Regular boiler inspection rules" indicate that the defect inside the boiler pressure components includes:cracks, grooving, overheating, deformation, leakage, corrosion, abrasion and water scale. The statistical test results show that, two-thirds of boiler accidents are caused by defects of corrosion and water scale in boiler.Based on the boiler accident tracking statistics in the past3years in Shenyang, it is clear that the boiler accidents mainly caused by the defects of water scale, corrosion and other problems of security devices and their accessories. In this paper, the reasons, causing scaling and corrosion, were analyzed, and the preventive measures were proposed. All the works done plays a certain guidance role on running the boiler.I made a further tracking inspection on the water quality of boiler, and found that the current water quality of the boiler is generally bad with a passing rate of38.5%in steam boilers and a passing rate of14.4%in hot water boiler. Based on the national standards for water quality requirements of industrial boilers, combined with the equipment capacity in Shenyang Institute of Special Equipment Inspection, the methods of water quality testing are proposed. Besides that I made out some simple detection methods for boiler use unit to test and control the boiler water quality, which are beneficial to improving the economic running level of the boiler and reducing the rate of boiler accident.
