With the increase demanding of voice and data, multi-frequency broadbandtransmission has become the unique development way for wired and wireless network. It ispossible that many signals with different frequency introduce into the same transmissionchannel, so PIM has become a key bottleneck to limit the system capacity. Coaxial cableand RF coaxial connector is the connecting bridge between the parts and components,subsystems and other subsystems, if the performance is not ideal, they are likely togenerate higher passive intermodulation signal (PIM) to cause signal distortion, noise andclutter, then affect the signal transmission rate. So the research of improvingcommunication transmission cable and connector intermodulation performance, buildingPIM testing platform has an extremely important practical significance for the RFengineering field.This paper will research the root cause why the braided coaxial cable assembly haspoor PIM performance, and then find the prevention action. Optimization work include:the PIM generation research, the IMD test methods research and PIM testing platformbuild, design modification for the braided coaxial cable with soldering and crimpconnectors separately, engineering prototype assembly process adjust and finalize,engineering prototype IMD data test and analysis.In a word, this paper studies the effective way to improve the braid coaxial cable andconnector intermodulation performance, build the intermodulation performance testplatform, realized the cable and connector value promotion. The work of this paper hasvery important realistic significance for improving the competitiveness of the product inthe market.
