Studies On Defense Safety Design For External Environment Of Commercial Buildings

Since the beginning of reform and opening up, urban development has enter into the period of rapid growth and people’s living standards has greatly improved. Cities gathered more risk while accumulating wealth. Coupled with relatively weak foundation of our public safety safety, cities’security issue is becoming the main focus. In such a situation, to create a safe and secure urban environment directly influences the healthy development of cities and the building of a livable city.With China’s rapid economic development, commercial buildings are not only used to meet people’s business needs like shopping, but also provide people a place for leisure, entertainment and communication in urban public life. Commercial Street still occupies the core and the most popular location in the city. Due to the characteristic of mixed crowd and people gathered, etc., the city center generated around commercial buildings tends to be high crime areas in the city. Therefore, studies on defense safety design of the external environment of China’s commercial buildings are not only concerned with emerging issues in academic research, but also with the pressing issue on reducing China’s urban crime.This thesis analyses the uniqueness of the needs of the external environment of commercial buildings for defense safety design. Based on defensible space theory and "Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design "(CPTED) and its successful experience, this thesis researches and analyses defense safety space of the external environment of commercial buildings in Changchun, and summarizes design factors that influence the defense safety of the external environment of commercial buildings, including boundaries, entrances, landscape, environmental ancillary facilities and so on. At last, on the basis of the research results and the summary of studies on the external environment of commercial buildings, combining with the psychological characteristics of human behavior in the external environment, the thesis puts forward principles of defense safety design of the external environment of commercial buildings and the design method of various factors.Reasonable environmental design can control criminal activity, reduce people’s fear caused by environment, and improve the safety of the city. The thesis tries hard to create a safe and of high quality external environment of commercial buildings, create a good living environment, and enrich China’s theories on defense safety.
