| As a result of the social transformation and upgrading, China’s university construction hasentered into a high-speed expansion phase along with the development of higher education. Asan important part of campus construction, campus landscape planning is faced with thedevelopment and renewal. This paper focuses on how to draw on experience in traditionalcampus construction to create unique and vigorous contemporary campus landscapemeanwhile meeting the needs of the new era.University campus landscape can be seen as the processes and results of a dynamicdevelopment. With time goes by, campus environment is also facing different stages:generation, prosperity and decline. The changes in the features and patterns of campusenvironment are unavoidable and the organic renewal should become an inexorable trend inthe development of campus landscape. Campus environment should not only meet thedemands of the development of higher education but develop towards the pattern ofdiversified function to promote learning, research, life and leisure of faculty and students.Organic renewal should not only draw material space patterns and humanistic spirit from thetraditional campus, but acclimate the request of the times growth, assume the task of futuresustainable development and play the role of environmental education in enlightenment,influence and effect. Campus construction should pay more attention to deepening functionconnotation, nurturing humanistic spirit and highlighting unique feature while adhering to thepolicy of inheritance and the orientation of innovation.The paper consists of the followings:Firstly, it introduces the origins of the topic choice: the research motives are educed fromthe existing problems; determines the objective and significance, object and contentinvestigated in this study, and describes the specific methods and overall framework used inthis study.Secondly, it makes an overview of campus landscape, defines the concept connotation,characteristics, composition and types, historical evolution of campus landscape and the latestprogress in the campus development. Thirdly, it carries out the study; by drawing on relevant theory, it elaborates thebackground and object of the organic renewal of campus landscape and puts forward overallideas of the organic renewal, doing foreshadowing for the in-depth study.Fourthly, it leads the study to a deep level: posing the basic principles of organic renewal,studying the inheritance policy and innovation direction of organic renewal and describing thetype, mode and evaluation system of organic renewal.Fifthly, it makes an empirical study on the campus landscape of Nanjing University.Through questionnaire survey and study and analysis, it makes the mutual corroboration oftheory and empirical examples and provides recommendations and countermeasure for organicrenewal of campus landscape.Finally, it summarizes the conclusions of this paper and points out the limitations andshortcomings, and proposes advice for the possible in-depth study in the future. |
