Research The Reform Of Old Residence District For Public Safety

With the rapid expansion of the size of the cities and the increment of the buildingdensity, the risk of security in urban residential areas was increased. Especially in the olderresidential areas, the security was frequently affected by fire, theft and other public safetyincidents, the rescue is relatively difficult, and the safety of the lives and property of thepeople cannot get effective guarantee. Because the residential public safety is closely relatedto people’s vital interests, as well as the older residential areas occupied a great proportion inurban residential areas, the public safety’s problem emerged unceasingly,even morehighlights, and needed urgently to be improved. Therefore, it is important and necessary toresearchthe reconstruction of the older residential areas for the residents and the stability andharmonious development of the society.Based on the theoretical research of architecture and urban planning theory,environmental psychology and environmental behavior theory, traffic safety theory, publicsafety management theory, structural engineering theory, and so on, the paper usedmultidisciplinary research method, literature researchmethod, the field survey method andother methods. The paper studied public safety of older residential areas and it proposed thereconstructionmethod further by means of three typical cases analysis.The paper is divided into five chapters: Chapter1put forward the research subject——public safety reconstruction of urban older residential areas, and described the researchbackground, purpose, meaning, contents and methods of this thesis, then discussed thenecessity of public safety reconstruction and related basis and concepts, and constructed theframework of the research. Chapter2analyzed the factors affect the communities’ publicsafety and the existing problems from planning and design and safety management. In theplanning and design aspect, the main consideration included city, residential environment andhouse while safety management included fire safety ma nagement, electrical safetymanagement and public safety management. Chapter3proposed a series of correspondingreconstruction methods and measures in accordance with the problems analyzed in chapter2.Chapter4analyzed three different cases——the Sinan Shanghai mansion, No44 neighborhoodLuwan Shanghai and No4village Anshan Yangpu Shanghai on the basis ofexisted data and site investigation, and summarized the reconstruction methods and measuresfrom planning and design and safety management. The advantages and disadvantages wereconcluded, and some suggestions for unresolved problems were presented, and experiencewere obtained to reconstruct older residential areas. Chapter5summarized the necessity,methods and measures of public safety reconstructio n of urban older residential areas, andproposed future study.
