Research Of Nanjing Rural Settlement Space Traits`Classification

As a result of Nanjing’s geographic and geomorphologic features and historical and culturalcustoms, typical rural settlement space has emerged. In the long-time generation anddevelopment, rural settlement has formed its unique landscape relationship, rural layout andinner point space traits. However, with the changes of social environment and traditionalvision, the rural settlement district of Nanjing is now facing some problems such as spatialdisappearance, similar village form and so on. In order to provide theoretical reference on theway to inherit its typical features in new rural construction, it discusses in two aspects. Thefirst section gives classifications of the rural settlement space. The second chapter analyzes theorigins of Nanjing rural settlement space.According to the background research of Nanjing rural settlement space, it reveals the impactof residents’ spiritual needs for specific geographical environment on rural settlement space.Based on the generation of rural settlement in Nanjing district, it analyzes the relationshipbetween geographical and cultural traits and the origins of Nanjing rural district in the view ofarchitecture together with multi-disciplinary knowledge.Specifically, it can be divided in six chapters briefly introduced as follows.The first section, namely the introduction, explains the origins of study theme, purpose andsignificance of the thesis, interpretation of important concepts, outline of research situation athome and abroad and selection of main research method.The second chapter focuses on the natural and social environment in Nanjing.In the next part, it summarizes and categorizes the features of Nanjing rural settlement space.Then it develops the generation causes of characteristics of Nanjing rural settlement spacebased on last part.Finally, it draws conclusions, points out the weakness of the research and the prospects forfuture study.On the basis of extensive site photos and survey maps on the regional research items fromfield visits and interviews, it builds methodology structure from macro to micro and fromintegrated rural environment to inner point spaces together with specific country case study. Overall, it aims to provide first hand readings for the research of Nanjing rural districtconstruction by use of authenticity and comprehensiveness.
