In recent years, CAD and computer’s virtual drawing techniques have beenwidely applied in manufacturing enterprises, and have brought tremendous impetus tothe product’s design. Three dimensional model contains geometry information of thepart, but the size tolerance, surface roughness, technical requirements and otherinformation still rely on2D drawings to tag and transfer. Similarly, body welding inmodern automobile manufacturing enterprises also widely uses "3D model and2Ddrawings" pattern. In the pattern, the design and manufacture are a low level ofinformation sharing, and the transmission of information costs more time andmanpower, has high error rate.MBD technology use3D model of the whole expressionproduct dimensions, tolerances and other information as the only basis for processdesign, it will completely change the current status of manufacturing enterprisesinformation transmission.The paper describes the development process about digital definition based model,the content on data set and application, and expounds the definition method about weldgeometry and non geometry information in detail. The position and direction of weldpoint is used non instantiated weld point to identify, and welding information aremanaged on the characteristic structure tree node for classification. Welding geometricgrouping defines specific information in each weld point definition group, and thenode name, classify and arrangement of welding information and weld point’sinformation are described. According to the welding information definition methodbased on model, constructing the standard definition of information system, andmaking the specific text information into the standard form. Then relying on standardinformation system was defined, using VB6.0and secondary development aboutCATIA to develop body welding standard information management system based on model. The system can effectively manage welding standard information in database asinput, auditing, modify, backups, import and export volume, and the system alsorealizes to add standard information to node, and extract the information about weldpoint coordinate in3D model and welding information in node. Finally the paperexpounds the application process of CATIA welding standard definition of informationmanagement system based on model.
