Cradle head is always used for installing or fastening camera equipments. With the development of wireless network technology, the application of cradle head has been already expanded from the photographic art to the fields of military, transportation construction, water conservancy project, ecological research and city planning. In the unmanned working environment, cradle head is always needed to adapt easily to the transformation of wind direction and the center of gravity. It should adjust and maintain a horizontal position automatically.In this paper, we present a three-axis Cradle head system, which is based on the control core of IAP15F2K61S2 MCU obtained from STC Company. It consists of DC power module, WiFi data transmission module, the MPU-6050 gyroscope module and servo module. The working situation of cradle head was collected by MPU-6050, and the data was transmitted to MCU. By that way, PID algorithm was performed by MCU, and the PWM signal is issued to control the direction and speed on the x direction and y direction for steering-gear. And also, camera on the cradle head was kept on the horizontal position. By rotating z axis, the camera can be rotated by 360 degree.In this paper, we introduced the current research and development situation of Cradle head at first. Then we gave the overall scheme design and details of the tripod head component module and hardware circuit design. For the controlling technology for cradle head, the application of PID algorithm in fuzzy control in the Pan and tilt control technology was introduced. The initial program, data acquisition program, conversion program and control program of PID arithmetic was obtained.By operating the experimental machine and running the system, stability of the cradle head was proved. And also, the basic functions of Cradle head were performed. Though these work, we achieve the expected goal, and it could inspire research into further investigation.
