The Research Of "Cradle To Cradle" On Current Urban Landscape Design

Since the industrial revolution started, human society has been changed greatly with the development of a century long period. With the rapid development of economy, science and technology, urban scale is expanding sharply and the material wealth of society has gained unprecedented growth... However, beneath this gorgeous surface lay the contradictions between humankind and the urban environment, and it is becoming an increasingly acute question. Under this background, urban landscape design as an important part of sustainable urban construction, its significance is no longer confined solely to give human beings aesthetic joy, it tends to create a both comfortable and ecological environment for humans'sustainable living and development. How to design current urban landscape under this perspective became a meaningful and valuable research subject.With "Cradle to Cradle" ("C2C") perspective, the author cited his "Zi Jin Grand Award" design, named as "C2C Online Eco-street" as a case study. After analyzing the status quo and the current predicaments of the urban landscape design, the author propose a set of new urban landscape design solutions to respond to the sustainable development problem of cities. The solutions may act as some kind of suggestions or references to be beneficial for China's urban landscape design.The "Cradle to Cradle" philosophy was applied to the contemporary urban landscape design. The conclusions were summarized as below:Firstly, the urban landscape, as an important part of urban construction, its current situation and problems reflect the process of sustainable development. Secondly, the use of "Cradle to Cradle" philosophy has broad theoretical evidence and rich basis in reality in contemporary urban landscape design. From point of eliminating the waste, the author proposed to re-use of resources under local conditions, he also promoted the use of renewable energy and encourages the design that based on the use of "C2C" eco-cycle, land types and three-dimensional space. Thus, a diversity of experiences and solutions can be created. Thirdly, with the popularity of the internet, the philosophy of "Cradle to Cradle" is gaining new inspirations during the applications to the current urban landscape design, "Virtual environmental planning" in order to bring "Virtual environment experience"may become a new trends of urban landscape design in the future.
