Although suspension bridge seems to be very beautiful, the construction techniques are rather complicated, involving many issues. The components of a suspension bridge consist of main cables, pylon, stiffening girder, anti-wind cables, and hangers. The construction process of a suspension bridge includes the erection of catwalk, erection of main cables, layout of cable clamp, installation of stiffening girders and stressing of anti-wind cables. The construction quality of those components influences directly the final linear shape and structural force distribution of the whole bridge. Summarily, it is necessary to study the key construction techniques of suspension bridge.Based on the construction of Yesanhe suspension bridge spanning the Yesanhe River, the thesis studies the key construction techniques such as the erection of catwalk, the erection of main cables, and the installation of stiffening girders. In this thesis, the work which was done includes the following:(1) The development and application in the worldwide and in China are introduced at the beginning of this thesis, summarizes the basic structural characteristics and its mechanics properties, and indicates the existing shortcomings and development trends of suspension bridge.(2) The structures of the catwalk and its arrangement are discussed. Accordingly, the erection method of the catwalk, the construction procedures and the key process are described detail by detail.(3) During the erection of main cables, the linear control of cables is the most important steps to control the final linear shape of the suspension bridge. Thus, construction precision control of the main cable must be carried out at construction phase; in particular, the erection error of the base wire unit should be strictly limited. This thesis gives a detailed description for the erection method and quality control of the main cables.(4) This paper also carries out some research on the installation techniques of stiffening girder and the linear monitoring methods, such as the coordinate calculation of cable-clamp layout, construction preparation, the installation process of stiffening girder and the monitoring and surveying technology in linear control.
