| Conducting a comprehensive survey of historic buildings is the prerequisite and basis for architectural heritage protection and utilization. Jinan commercial port area has a unique historic character of modern times. There are different architectures including Chinese and western styles which have a high conservation value and utilization potential.This paper studies the historic buildings of the commercial port area. It firstly summarizes previous studies, then introduces how the utilization and protection have been done based on research and interview. This paper also selects a typical case to summarize the ways of historic building protection and utilization. I hope it will provide useful inspiration on future studies, utilization and protection.There are six parts:the introduction part describes the background and significance, concept definition, current situations, contents and methods of studies.The first chapter reviews the history of the commercial port area, the number of historic buildings and their type of functions and styles. Chapters II and III introduces the research conducted. They analyze the processes of protection, the current situations of the buildings and environments, different ways of participation, the functions of the buildings and the adaptive reuse of different functions. Based on the above research results, chapter IV summarized the whole neighborhood protection, the problems of protection and utilization of historic buildings and it also gives the corresponding suggestions. The Conclusion summaries the paper and points out the shortcomings and the directions of possible future research. |
