Studies On Landscape Architecture Based On The Theory Of Figure-ground Relation

The building, closely related to the corresponding social environment, reflects the development and changes of an era and the social ideology. A representative building is often combined with the most concerned and advanced science, art and culture. As an architectural form inextricably linked to natural environment, the landscape architecture made little progress and development when most of the urban land is deeply influenced by the modernism. People, especially the architects, tend to pay more attention to the balance between architecture, nature and human beings, with the progress of sophisticated science and technology and the lack of emotional memories in concrete buildings. The landscape architecture is based on the homogenization development of building and environment, and focuses on the interfacial continuity of architecture and landscaping, as well as the visual perception of people. Thus, the essence of the building can be pursued.Due to the accordance between site topography and environmental landscape, the landscape architecture tends to be complicated and continuously nonlinear. However, it is more important to explore the fundamental significance of building than the unique form. the mutual integration of different areas and concepts always results in something new. Based on the visual and perceptual experience of figure-ground relation, this study clarifies the background, development and related basic theories of "landscape architecture" and "figure-ground relation”, and focuses on the concept, development, disciplinary value and ethical thoughts. Besides, it explores whether the traditional analytical methods are suitable for the study of landscape architecture. If not, it will be discussed whether the innovative theories of figure-ground relation can be created to meet the fuzzy boundaries and overlapping of landscape architecture. Otherwise, the design strategy and design method of landscape architecture should be researched to test the operating logic beyond the form. It is exactly the mainline of the study.
