Therefore, residential demand was increased significantly. To meet the residential demand, Japanese government has built a number of residences, which have not only the characteristics of Japanese living environment, but also the Changchun local characteristics. In 1945, following by the defeat of Japan and their going back home, Changchun residents started living in these houses. After decades of living, the unique residence has blended in the requirements and improvement of Changchun residents for residential environment. For the same space, due to the living groups’ difference of region, nation and cultural background, the life space it contains is also not identical. Taking Changchun modern Japanese residence as the research object, this article analyzes the characteristics of modern Japanese residence from the perspective of the corresponding relations between residential morphology and space, analyzes similarities and differences between the residence built by Japanese and Changchun local residence and has carried out the research on Changchun residents how to use and transform the residence in this kind of distinctive place, and then explore the collision, exchange and evolution between the living culture of Chinese and Japanese groups.This article is divided into four chapters. The first chapter is introduction, including the research of source and background, research object, research purpose and significance, research status at home and abroad and the research methods and framework. The body part is from chapter two to chapter four. The second chapter mainly introduces the exploration for original residential culture of Changchun modern Japanese residence. The third chapter mainly introduces the exploration for original living form of Changchun modern Japanese residence. The fourth chapter is the core part of the full text, mainly introduces the use condition of the modern Japanese residence at Changchun, and puts forward the development strategy and prospect of modern Japanese residence.Through a lot of research on historical literature and field research, and analysis to characteristics of Changchun modern Japanese residence, the formation, development and evolution of modern Japanese residence in Changchun can be understood from it, which also has an important significance to recognize the city. Although these houses are in a long history, and even are going to be demolished, whether in terms of modeling, the technical measure or in terms of the quality of construction, it can be said that these residences is second to none at that time, and the design of overall layout and interior space reflects world-class advanced level.
