Liner shipping is an obvious uncertainty of transport, where container transport demand uncertainty is most obvious, always fluctuating. Fluctuations in demand for container transport on the route may cause insufficient or excess capacity configuration, reducing the shipping company’s earnings, or even lead to damage the company’s reputation and image, customer loss and other serious consequences. This imbalance of supply and demand is actually a problem manager liner companies operating at the level of every day in the face. Currently rely mainly on this issue management experience in dealing with. Similar studies have not found the existing literature. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the proposed container shipping route capacity allocation method reliability. First, the use of reliability theory, the shipping route capacity allocation scheme reliability evaluation model; then build to voyage operating costs for minimal shipping route capacity allocation adjustment model; the last of China’s coastal trade routes to A container liner company as an example, the model was validated route capacity configuration for reliability analyzes made corresponding adjustments. Studies have shown that the method proposed in this study can help companies to better avoid the risk of liner container shipping demand fluctuations, provide theoretical support for the design of reliable container liner shipping network.
