Lifting capacity is an important parameter of luffing jib tower cranes, so calculating lifting capacity accurately is of great importance. According to lifting capacity optimizing project have great significance on reducing the weight of the boom structure, full playing material properties, improve the market competitiveness. This paper presented a method of lifting capacity calculation of luffing jib tower crane based on CAD/CAE integration and developed calculation and optimization software. Optimize the project of the boom.The main contents of this paper are as follows:(1) Research on CAD/CAE integrated modeling method, build CAD/CAE integration model library of jib using NX software platform, and build CAD/CAE integration model by calling the integration model library. Propose lifting capacity calculation method of luffing jib tower crane based on component family parameter table.(2) Propose optimization method of boom project design based on CAD/CAE integration, according to the provided weight payload data of lifting capacity curve to make optimization. Calculate by calling assembly model and component family parameter table, get the best result of main chords and webs sectional dimensions of discrete design variables. Reducing the weight product cost of boom.(3) Build lifting capacity calculation and project design optimization software systems of luffing jib tower crane based on CAD/CAE integration in the NX software platform. Calculate by entering the relevant parameters in the software interface. The results given by the calculation examples verify the rationality of the proposed method.
