Research On The Design Of The Phenomenology To The "New & Old" Symbiosis Model In The Renewal Of Old Architecture

Along with the rapid development of the global economy, the urbanization is speeding up gradually and people have higher standards for material comforts; and lots of current architecture cannot fulfill the needs of such urban development process and needs to be torn down or renewed. However, in the process of this kind of development, a lot of old architecture, which represents the epitome of the city, brings people collective memories and embodies the value of the city, earns more and more attention because of its particular historical stories, cultural background and artistic value, resulting in the continuous extension of the idea of the renewal of the old architecture all over the world. But the improper renewal of the old architecture will vanish this kind of collective memories, making the value of the city cannot be embodied or continued. Therefore, we should pay more attention the renewal and rebuilding of the old architecture.In the process of old architecture renewal, "New & Old" Symbiosis is the essence to some extent. When thinking of issues concerning the connection between the old and new architecture, we may easily ignore lots of characteristics and value of old architecture, such as the space, material, texture, arrangement, etc., which inevitably results in the poor senses and the loss of the place spirit, isolating the old architecture and the history, which coincides with the perspective of the phenomenological observation. Phenomenology provides us a new angle to think about the site of the old architecture and its spirit, paying attention to the sense experience of people in the old architecture.This thesis states the point starting from the "new & old" symbiosis model in the renewal of old architecture from the viewing angle of the phenomenology, by means of researching on the phenomenology, the thesis analyzes the value of renewing the old architecture in this way. Through the analysis of successful cases on renewal and rebuilding the old architecture from inside and outside the country, the inner connection of the "new" and "old" architecture is rediscovered, and the thesis concludes its designation ideal and summarize the designation methods. The thesis aims at arousing the rethink of aspects including historical memories, regional contexts, recognition intentions, cultural emotions, etc. in the renewal of the old architecture, with the help of the aforesaid excellent cases and relevant architecture practice.Symbiosis is not echoing the "new" and "old" in the old architecture, under the guidance of phenomenology, the thesis searches for innovations points between the new and the old, summarize the new symbiosis model of them and form feasible and effective designation ideal and methods, starting from the viewpoint of site spirit and sense experience, respectively in the aspects of the site rebirth, space experience, material sense, etc. The abovementioned ideal and methods can provide new thinking and innovation skills to the designation of the old architecture in the future.
