As people pay more attention on “air neo-treasure hill”, the rebuild phenomenon of resid ential roof comes into people’s horizons again. In fact, this phenomenon exists not only in Beijing but also in the whole nation. The roof-reconstruction behavior involves in nearly all kinds of residential, including shanty town, normal residential apartments and luxury villas. It’s quite worthy of studying owing to its great effects on people’s lives. Thus, we suppose that this phenomenon should become manageable by way of architectural methods to make a better life in our cities. So, it’s quite a thing for us to think how we can respond to roof-reconstruction and what specific measures could be taken to resolve this problem. This paper carries on a study on the residential roof-reconstruction in Beijing, by way of spot-investigation and interviews. Specifically, it is to examine this problem in various angles, including the spot, the area, the materials, the way and the attitudes from different people, according which we could find the way to solve this problem.Firstly, as to the roof-reconstruction phenomenon in the city, we should strengthen law enforcement; meanwhile, it is supposed to avoid designing leaks which might make it possible for roof-construction. Secondly, what we should do about the existing roof-reconstructions is to clear it up by way of laws under the technical support from the angle of architecture. Nevertheless, we should realize that the roof-reconstruction behavior is, somehow, a kind of original appeal for a better life of the residents. Besides, given the fact that this phenomenon is hard to be strictly prohibited owing to all kinds of reasons, we could make it manageable through a certain way.
