The renewal and development of historical cultural district has always been the issues and difficult problems of the historical and cultural city’s protection. with the development of social and economic today, more and more people pay attention to it. Chengdu has more than 2300 years’ history as one of the historical and cultural city, it is the only one that has not been renamed and moved after the completion of the ancient city site.It’s the old city spatial form evolution with regional characteristics of typical inland plain China city center. The Wenshu Monastery, Daci Monastery and Kuanzhai Alley is the only designated historical and cultural preservation area of Chengdu historic city protection plan, the retaining the traditional spatial structure and iconic streets texture is Representative. The urban design study on the renewal and development of Chengdu three historical district is benefited to demonstrating the inherent charm of this ancient city of Chengdu and the continuation of the old city of cultural context space.First of all, The dissertation on the history of the status of the three pre-update patches were made a detailed analysis, including the basic conditions to form the historical background of the various historical Area, spatial pattern, architectural style and architectural value, and strive to restore the situation before the update three Area.
