| This paper focused on the historical development of Parks in Taichung city through literature sorting, data collection and investigation of current situation. 9 urban parks and greens were chosen for the issuance and the callback of questionnaires after getting an indirectly understanding of developmental situation of parks in Taichung city based on the analysis of major factors to the historical development of Taichung parks. The correlation was analyzed between the function of urban parks and greens and the human activities. The plant resource and its application of Taichung parks was also being systematically investigated and analyzed. The study obtained conclusions as follows:1. Taiwan classical garden, derived from Dutch period and developed during Ming-qing period, keeps the character of Chinese classical garden, most of which are private ones. After absorbing thoughts came from Japan and western countries under the Japanese Occupation, parks occurred and the private garden was transferred to the public one at the same time. Parks were developed quickly at this time, depending on city planning from 1895 to 1943.Taichung city experienced six city planning, most of which was not being performed for the special political reason. Until the 187 city planning being performed in 1911, the foundation for city street system being laid, Taichung park was fundamentally formed.2. Taichung parks are divided into three types, cosmo large parks, regional medium-sized parks, neighborhood small parks, based on the scale and the service radius. The distribution of Taichung parks were orientated radially with the development of city planning. There are 206 parks, including 89 normal parks and 117 children park at the end of 2010. Taichung park covering all regions, located in Beitun, North, Situn District, Western, Eastern, nantun district, Southern, respectively 49,19,52,21,20,28,17 months. And in accordance with the features of the park, the location and use of objects into natural parks, regional parks, multi-purpose park, Riverside Park, neighborhood parks, respectively 34,24,33,7,108 months. Reasonable distribution of these parks, continuity between the park service radius intensive, meet people of different groups, the needs of different ages for Taichung citizens provides a convenient, user-friendly park recreation green space.3. Landscape with Taichung’s main park, through the terrain, water, construction, plant landscape study and analysis, learn general micro-topography landscape, creating a water landscape of major natural formula based on the use of Taichung park landscape, water landscape effect somewhat different positioning of different parks, the park’s decision to the park’s architectural style, a Japanese style, classical, modern, plant landscape is accompanied by the gradual development of the park is formed on the park’s plant species composition of tree species in the largest proportion, 60%, 29% the proportion of shrubs, ground cover plants share 11%. In this study, to which nine parks activities for citizens survey, carried out using an analysis of the main park landscape. From 404 questionnaires for statistical analysis, the main use of the crowd learned that the park is now married persons accounted for 67.8%, 31-60 years old accounted for 62%, 40% incumbency. From the park user activity characteristic analysis point of view, the number of participants and leisure activities, social events, family activities, relieve stress, respectively accounted for 45%, 17%, 24%, 14%, indicating that the use of the park, people mostly use to engage in leisure activities. The data show, sports and entertainment facilities, public facilities, service facilities in the three types of public satisfaction in general were more than 86.7%, 90.1%, 93.8%, from the data perspective public generally believes that Taichung Park Service facilities to meet the different needs of the public. |
