In the context of globalization and urbanization, most of the city’s architecture and landscape gradual convergence, and regional characteristics of the city is being lost. The plant landscape, affectted by the factors such as regional climate, cultural, economic, and urban planning, is an important aspect of the city’s geographical characteristics. In this study, based on the literature review and data collection, stratified random sampling method, regional compared research, summary analysis and other methods,48urban parks in Taichung are surveyed, containing6greenways. The evolution history, parks’type are research, and the status of the Taichung urban park plant landscape are comprehensive studied. Concluded that:Taiwan’s traditional garden inherits characteristics of mainland Southern Gardens, who’s layout closely integrated its geographical environment, thus it is regarded as the traditional Chinese courtyard. Because Taichung’urban planning starts after the Japanese Colonial Era, the modern park definition and category are affected by Japan, and the urban park is part of the generalized Green.Special historical experience, decided that in the development of the Taichung Urban Park Plant Landscape, there are more setbacks and directions, and the Taichung Urban Park Plant Landscape is divided by three periods:the Dutch to the Qing througth Ming Zheng period, the Japanese Colonial Era, and the Republic of China. The formation of the urban park plant landscape is basically effected by the Taichung natural location, topography, climate conditions. In the meantime, urban planning, history, culture, political influence, and plant introduction process are important influence factors of the urban park plant landscape. The forms of pace organization, order, moving lines are researched and statistical analyzed in the plant space, based on the conclusion of Francis DK Ching (1989), from whose book, discussing the building, shape, space and order. The conclusion, that urban park plant space is relying on the park space, and the order form and moving lines have a relationship with the organization form, besides, the category of park space is related to the park scale and park functions, is drawn. In the next, both the upper tree and lower shrub and herb is mainly used in plant communities, middle shrub is relatively missing, sometimes in the form of hedges. Space-separated by plant community is weak, usually separated space with plants inadvertently. With rich plant species, the richness of community landscape increases. Evergreen plants, broad-leaved plants, and the exotic plants are frequently used, while the plant frequency of a single species is low.Plant landscape of Taichung Park presents a diversity. To express the regional of plant landscape in Taichung urban parks, different parks tightly fitting with the richness of the urban context, matchin with the residents use habits and adapting to the natural and cultural environment is the key, but not the number of native plants, or inheriting the old customs.
