The Research Of Post Occupancy Evaluation On The Children’s Playground In Beijing Comprehensive Park

Nowadays, the amount of children’s playground spaces has been sharply reduced caused by the massive urban construction. One hand, as essential public places in any modern city, comprehensive parks are widely recognized as high value these days. Children playgrounds in comprehensive parks have become the primary outdoor amusement places of children in modern cities. On the other hand, Research and application on POE (Post occupancy Evaluation) is relatively mature in western countries while still being developed in China. Because POE research focus on activity area in city parks is rare and most of the researches are emphasizing on qualitative study of cases.This paper aims at discussing the application of POE technique and establishing a POE model for children play grounds in Beijing comprehensive parks. By quantitative and qualitative research of POE, then get the final evaluation grade and improvement weight of children play ground. According to the results of POE, this article will propose suggestions on reforming the children playground to make it more functional and impactful in the future.The research process consists of three steps:preparation-implementation-results refining.In preparation stage, this article selected several comprehensive parks in Beijing as cases, using theoretical investigation, POE survey, AHP data analysis and Kano model to build a POE basic evaluation model and a POE improved model that can be applied to children’s playground. The two models were built based on the level of comfort and convenience using of the space; safety using of the space; sense of belonging of the space; capacity development and quality training for children; established a data base of POE evaluation factor. In implementation stage, author investigated the users, distribution and behavior, type of activities and the expectations in five comprehensive parks including ten children playgrounds. Author collected an amount of data and current situation of parks. Finally, analyzed and refined the data on the basis of survey results, came to the conclusion in POE evaluation index system, POE comprehensive evaluation result, POE improvement weight, and optimization strategy of children play ground in Beijing. This article will provide reliable framework model and reference for improving the children play ground in city comprehensive parks in future.
