Study On University Museum Under Urban Cultural Horizon

As the proposal concerning being powerful cultural country was put forward, it became increasingly prominent to launch cultural construction in a city. The position of cultural construction in the city development has become increasingly prominent. University, as a symbol community of the City education and culture, especially its Museum, is always regarded as the important sign of a city’s culture. Moreover, the more powerful a city is in the cultural construction, the stronger a country will be. Therefore, it become more important than ever to study a new subject on how to build and make good use of the University Museum.This paper re-examine the limitations of the planning and design of University Museum in china, through investigating the current situation of it in domestic and abroad. What’s more, as for the "two skins" problem of the present university museum and city public museum in the city planning, the paper put forward a consideration for the city meaning of University Museum, from the city development strategies, and a conception that University Museum should be regarded as a vital part in a city’s cultural system. Finally, at the process of combining University Museum with a city’s cultural facilities and integrating all kinds of resources, this paper establishes these changes of special space and new functions in University Museum, to make the organic combination of University Museum and the city better.
