Ershilipu sluice is a large project with comprehensive functions, which can control and store the water from upstream of the river, however, after many years of operation, the sluice is aging to be serious, water storage capacity is greatly reduced, it has seriously affected the function and there is a big security risk, which have been identified as fourth grade of dangerous sluices, it is urgently needed for reinforcement design. The main contents are as follows.-1、The engineering practice of Ershilipu sluice is combined in this paper, the dangerous problems of the sluice are analyzed, moreover, after the engineering quality detection and safety assessment, the reconstruction necessity of Ershilipu sluice are demonstrated.2、We emphatically studied the whole process of the sluice design in the paper, it mainly included general layout of sluice, hydraulic design, anti-seepage and drainage design, structure design, calculation and treatment of foundation, and so on.3、the method of system engineering was applied in selection of sluice location, width of sluice hole and sluice bottom board design methods to study the several schemes comparison, therefore, a better design scheme are obtained.Based on the above research, the design of sluice is summarized, suggestions for attention problems are proposed during construction, it is hoped that this paper will have some reference to the similar engineering design in the future.
