Ethics Research In Designing City Public Art Museum

Abstract/Summary:
The public art museum is an essential cultural facility for cities, its number and popularity has become an important indicator of the level of urban and national cultural development. Meanwhile, it is not only influences our lives, but also an important place which satisfies the public’s growing spiritual and cultural needs. Since the reform and opening up, China has only used 30 years to catch up with the development process of the European and American National Art Museum which has been used three hundred years. In recent years, there has been many new art museums and galleries established. Not only public art museum in the fast development, private owned and operated galleries are also having a rapid rise. However, there are many problems occur; some of which also involves ethical issues. For example, as a new museum project, whether it really is built to meet the needs of the public? What is the role of the public art museum in social development? To whom should public museum actually serve?As the background stated above, due to the current construction booming in public art museum, this dissertation has been done based on research and reflection to explore ethical issues in the design of public art museum architectures which combined with the concepts, theoretical research and case analysis to make the detailed analysis of ethical principles and public art museum designs.This essay mainly studies design ethics from theoretical and application level of public art museum. First, from the perspective of design ethics by definition, analysis the differences between domestic and abroad, interpret the ethics function of public art museum. Secondly, clear up current domestic art museum and gallery problems through explaining of design ethics to establish a public art museum design ethical principles. Finally, use specific cases study to confirm the design ethics embodied in the public art museum buildings.
