In the society of high developing computer network technology and electronic information technology, as well as the continuing improving living standards, people tend to pay ever increasing attention to the quality of life, especially requiring better housing quality, which is gradually featured by intelligent and automatic home. Smart home, consequently, comes into being. Smart home system empowers and intellectualizes home appliances via bus, and integrates all appliances in all rooms through home network. Smart home provides people with safer and high-efficient modern living style. Accordingly, this essay focuses on studying a specific design of wireless home monitoring system, which is low-costing, simple to control and easy to be widely used. Generally, this design proposal involves the layout and implementation of central processing platform, data terminals, internal wireless communication module and remote real-time monitoring.At first, this article introduces the present development situation of smart home system both at home and abroad and also existing problems. Then, the overall design project will be determined based on the results of the analysis of customer demand. In this project, based on ARM11 processor, the central processing platform uses the Windows Embedded CE 6.0 operating system, takes the VisualStudio2005 as the integrated development environment, and adopts c++ programming and MFC framework, and SQLite database technology to develop Embedded application software. The data terminal, with STC microcontroller as the control core, combined with different sensors, can control and collect the data of temperature and humidity, light, the concentration of combustible gas, and implement the family environment information for internal communication and realize remote real-time monitoring through the wireless module nRF24L01 and GSM module.After the longtime and overall debugging of the system, this design enables the data collection of the temperature, humidity, light, and the concentration of combustible gas as well as the human body sensor data acquisition of home appliances. Through internal wireless communication module, the data collected is sent to the central processing platform, which has many functions, such as user logging threshold setting, data real time display, data environment, overrun alarm and historical data query. Then, the central processing platform makes judges, corresponds to different condition to give a variety of processing orders, and control s the data terminal to make the corresponding operation. Besides, the design can use GSM remote communication module to communicate with the clients’ mobile phone, which enables clients to get home information via mobile devices, and can send text messages to a GSM module according to individual needs. MCU serial communication can read the message content through GSM module, and take the appropriate response measures to realize the remote control of home environment, which reached the expected target as a whole.
