With the rapid development of computer and communication technology, people have an increasing demand for the quality of the environment, which tends to be more automated, intelligent and safe. The monitoring system of construction sites has begun aroused wide concern. While with the advance in construction technology, it demands a growing number of environmental inspection parameters, i.e., it means relatively low cost and simple and convenient installation. Thus a product which is easy to install, practical and which has a low cost is supposed to emerge. Common wired sensors system has too much wiring. The wired sensor system has its limitations in that some particular construction environments make wiring impossible. With the rapid growth of wireless sensor networks, the Zigbee technology of short distance wireless sensor began to receive widespread attention because of low-power consumption, low cost and high speed. The combination of wireless sensor networks (which was made up by Zigbee,) and the construction monitoring system is characterized by a low maintenance cost, flexible networking and easy deployment, hence a promising prospect. Given the advantages of the Zigbee technology, this paper chooses the Zigbee wireless communication technology to build wireless network monitoring system of construction sites. The structure of the paper is as follows:The first part mainly studies and analyzes changes of construction environment and the development of wireless sensor networks. According to the features of construction sites, audio broadcasting system is added. This part also discusses the prospective study of wireless sensor technology in the application of monitoring and management of construction sites. This papers researches structures and functions of every network protocol layer, laying the foundation for the application of the Zigbee technology to construction monitoring and management system.The second part introduces the overall design of audio broadcasting system of construction monitoring. We use wireless Zigbee development knit as its main hardware. The Zigbee wireless sensor node uses low-power microcontroller CC2530, smog sensor MQ-2 and digital temperature and humidity sensor DHT11. This system that performs well is battery-powered, easy to use.In the construction of monitoring system, data transmission of monitoring nodes is highly reliable and signal transmission distance meets the environment requirement. The low-power consumption of the monitoring nodes of the system is able to extending battery life effectively. The audio broadcasting system of construction monitoring we design makes the audio monitoring broadcasting for a long time possible. The system is characterized by modular idea, intelligent design, low cost and consumption.
