A Study On Garden Art Of Buddhist Temples In Fujian

Fujian Buddhist temple garden, as one of the types of Chinese classical gardens, not only has the commonness of the temple garden, but also shows a typically regional characteristics in Fujian personality.From the perspective of Fujian Province, the temple gardens were arranged, induced, compared, analyzed and summarized so that they can be integrated to control.In this way,the Fujian temple gardens can not only enrich the content and the cases of the classical gardens and have important theoretical significance, but also can provide some reference and ideas for the planning and design practice of the temple garden in Fujian Province, which has a certain practical application value.Based on the large collection of Buddhist temples and reading about the books and paper on the Buddhism, temple, Fujian residence,the history of Fujian Buddhism, Fujian Buddhist temple and Fujian local chronicles, this paper constructs the typical selection criteria, objectively select typical Buddhist temples of 9 cities of Fujian Province.These cases not only have a large number, rich types, wide coverage, but also hold strong local characteristics of Fujian.There were37 temples visited,26 of which were key temples.Through field investigation,such as mapping, information, pictures, a large number of first-hand data was collected.Combined with literature analysis,there were 15 cases analyzed,induced and summarized.Based on the previous research Buddhist temple gardens of Fuzhou and Quanzhou,this paper supplements temples of the remaining seven cities and draws the following conclusions:Greatly influenced by diverse Min culture, Fujian Buddhist temple gardens show the regional characteristics,which is consistent with the general distribution of dwellings and dialect. With the leading factor of architectural features of the temple, the Fujian Buddhist temple gardens are divided into six regions,concluding Min East,Min South,Puxian,Min North, Min West and Min Central.The first four zones hold prominent features, but the characteristics of rest is not obvious.At the same time, the temple gardens in the different areas of Fujian is common in gardening techniques, mainly in the location of the landscape environment, the layout, plant, techniques of borrowing scenery, artistic conception and details etc. Therefore, the Fujian Buddhist temple garden not only has the personality, but also has the generality.On one way,local personality of Buddhist temple gardens of Fujian show colorfully multi-faceted,on the other way, overall generality of them could make them unify in the overall environment in Fujian.
