In the past ten years, China’s LCD industry has been developing rapidly. During theperiod the LCD plant construction period is so long that it has become the focus of theindustry. This paper is based on the systematic project management knowledge. It adoptedthe methodology of literature research combined with field research and case study on theschedule management of the new8.5generation TFT-LCD plant project of domesticcompany B while utilizing the qualitative and quantitative analysis method. In the courseof the study, it combined theories with practices. It used project management knowledge,techniques, tools and methods, taking WBS as the tool, to break down the project scope. Itcalculated activity time parameters using network planning technique and the CPM tool. Itdrew a single coded network plan and critical path with the key activities. Then Combinedwith the project objectives and requirements, it analyzed the process and technologicalcharacteristic of the new TFT-LCD plant project. And it improved and optimized thenetwork planning to achieve the objective of the project. In the stage of implementation,two time points were selected as examples. It checked and collected the real information,using the index SV, SPI of earned value management, to analyze the performance statusand the root causes and solutions that were affecting the performance. There would beminor changes and adjustments along the progress to achieve the optimized output. For thenew8.5generation TFT-LCD plant project, it is important to apply effective control andimprovement on its schedule management in order to meet the project objectives. |
