The Research On The Continuation Traditional Style Of Hancheng Ancient City Under The Function Transformation

The ancient city, is the definition of the historical and cultural city. It generallyrefers to the cities those rich of historical value and heritage preservation. The ancientcities attract more and more people because of the historical and cultural charmingbased on its traditional style. The traditional style of the ancient cities brings peopleperception of history and memories of past. It is the history, culture and artistic value inthe traditional style which promotes ancient cities’ protection and use, and which makesprotection of historical and cultural cities one of the important research topics in worldtoday.Hancheng ancient city, as one of the second batch of historical and cultural citiesapproved by the State Council, is a ancient city that the preservation are relativelycomplete in the entire country. Hancheng is one of the famous cities at the west side ofthe Yellow River since ancient times.It is north to Ju River, east to Liangshan, andplateaus at its northeast. As Pingyao, people do not develop at Hancheng’s old district,but build a new district. This “New and old separating” policy makes the city be wellmaintained about its urban pattern, shape, and style.In this study, the protection and use of the ancient city of Hancheng is theobjection.First, through field research and data collection of Pingyao and Lijiang, which aretwo domestic successful stories in protection and utilization of ancient cities, analyzethe functional change after the use of the ancient cities and the protection methods ofthe ancient traditional style. With the summary of the case analysis, expand on the fieldresearch and data collection of the ancient city of Hancheng. From a professional view of urban design and architectural design, focusing on five aspects which are the spatialorder, historical and cultural buildings, commercial space, residential courtyards, andcultural folk, analyze and summarize the traditional style of the ancient city ofHancheng.Then, through the thinking of the program “The construction protection programfor Hancheng”, which the author participated during the internship, focusing on fiveaspects which are the necessity of using and continuing the traditional style of theancient city of Hancheng, the relevant law and academic theory on protection and use ofthe ancient city of Hancheng, the whole idea of protection and use, the functionalcombination strategies in using and the protect policies for the traditional style of theancient city of Hancheng, analyze the thought and strategy to continue the traditionalstyle while the functional changes of the ancient city of Hancheng.Last, analyze the design of continuing the traditional style of the ancient city ofHancheng in the program which the author participated. Analyze the designs from fouraspects which are the use and protection of the partition, the repair and continuation ofthe ancient city’s spatial order, the repair plan of the important historical and culturalbuildings and the strengthening of the landscape readability.The main part of the paper is Chapter three, four and five. Focusing on thetraditional style of the ancient city of Hancheng, analyze the idea policy and designmethods of continuing the traditional style of the ancient city of Hancheng. Finally turninto this study and have a talk about the design points and methods of the protection anduse of the ancient city of Hancheng.
